Thousands of independent drivers who are on the Ola and Uber cab aggregator services are on an indefinite strike from midnight on Sunday against the companies’ policies. The strike is being led by the transport wing of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS).
Drivers with app-based cab aggregators like Ola and Uber as well as other taxi unions, including the Mumbai Taximen’s Union are participating in the strike.
Key demands include guaranteed business of ₹1.25 lakh a month, reinstatement of blacklisted drivers and removal of company-owned cars.The strike is expected to be observed in key cities like Mumbai, New Delhi, Bengaluru and Pune, among others.
