Jyothika’s joie de vivre in 36 Vayadhinile

36 Vayadhinile marks Jyothika’s come back to cine field after a hiatus of eight years. The story and direction of the film are handled by Rosshan Andrrews who had directed the original version “How old are you” a blockbuster movie in Malayalam, staring ManjuWarrier. Like Jyothika, Manju Warrier too made her return to film industry after 14 years. The film is produced by Jothika’s beloved husband and actor Surya under the banner of 2D entertainment.

The background score by Santhosh Narayanan deserves appreciation. Editing is handled by Mahesh Narayan who perfectly scripted Santhosh’s music and Jyothika’s character in the most beautiful way. R.Diwakaran’s cinematography makes the film impressive.

The story revolves around a 36 year old woman Vasanti Tamilselvan a government employee

The movie covers two phases of Vasanthi’s life. In the first half, she comes across as a woman, who is totally insecure, due to her age, who has no dreams, and full-fledged home maker, sacrificed her life completely for her family, caught between daily family chores and the dusty files of her office. The second half presentsher as an inspirational lady who is brimming with energy and confidence.

Rahman is portrayed as a usual male chauvinist husband. His negative shade has come up well. The movie’s cameo role is done by Abirami as Susan. Actors like Nassar, Delhi Ganesh ,DevadarshiniElavarasu played minor roles.

The saris worn by Jyothika have caught the eyes of the audience as they are simple and elegant. A few saris were sourced from Sundari silks T- Nagar and Arunthati Menon of SAMASTA who has designed a few saris for the protagonist.

The film forces audience to evaluate where one stands in life and it revolves around woman empowerment. It gives the answer to the spectators for various questions like how does a woman who sacrifices her dreams and desires for the sake of the family and how does she retains her family’s respect. Age is not an obstacle for woman. The movie encourages women to take up challenges in life. The response has been phenomenal. The movie has raked over RS 10 crores in over two weeks since its release.

Oviya, a college student who is actually not a movie buff enjoyed the movie and she feels that every individual must watch the movie. She adds that this movie is a rare genre in the contemporary movie domain.

Vignesh and his friends shared that, “We boys generally like to watch heroes with stylish looks apparel and romance. This movie is a change in cinema industry and it’s a prototype for each woman who faces challenges everyday inside and outside the house. I hope it will definitely energize them. Plots have shown realism and I wish for more movies with the same story because it will remind us to respect women and their feelings”.
