Theatre festival in Chennai

Come July and Short+Sweet Theatre will be celebrating the second edition of its theatre festival in the city.

The event, to be organised by P S Events and The Blu Lotus Company in collaboration with Alliance Francaise, Chennai, is curated by Prakriti Foundation. As a curtain-raiser, Prakriti Foundation has invited scripts for the crash test and also directors and actors to register for performing in the crash test drama.

The last day for submitting scripts is April 10. The entry fee for each script is Rs 50 and all plays must be of 10-minute duration or less. The selected scripts will be presented as moved readings on April 20 by the directors and actors who had registered. Following this, the audience and judges will vote for their favourite plays. The crash test presents a great chance for actors, directors and script writers to work and develop the play based on the inputs given by the audience and jury.

Forms can be downloaded from www.shortandsweet.org and must be submitted with the script. For more information, log on to www.shortandsweettheatre.org or call 8754415362.

Short+Sweet Theatre is the biggest festival of 10-minute theatre. Started in Australia in 2002, it is held annually in 30 cities in seven different countries, including India. Providing a platform for actors, writers and directors to create high-quality work in professional theatre, the festival offers a collaborative environment where established practitioners may pass on knowledge to others in theatre arts.
